Friday Confessional: Just One More Thing

Confession: I have a hard time going to the store to buy just one thing. The other day I went to the grocery store to buy yeast.

That's it.

Just yeast.

This is what I came home with:

I am working on correcting this problem.

Please tell me I am not alone.

I Can't Think Of Anything Clever

I am a zombie today. That's because I am dead dog tired from a very long week and I just need a little bit less of this:

and a little more of this:

While we are at it, I could also use another one of these:

I might have to bring this little one along, but that's okay right?

Does anyone else feel like sunshine makes everything better?
I will certainly welcome summer with open arms, if it ever arrives.

Google Reader: A Tutorial

Those of you who are blog stalkers and don't use Google Reader (or something similar), you are missing out. There are much easier ways to look at blogs than to click on each and every website every day.

I know you are out there (I won't name names), so I thought I would share this simple tutorial I made to help you get started.

Step 1: Go to Google and search "reader" or "google reader".

Step 2: After clicking on Google Reader, you will be taken to a screen like this. Sign into your Google Account, or create one.

Step 3: Click "Add a subscription".

Step 4: Type in a website that you want to follow. Click "Add".

Step 5: Posts should show up, if not, re-check your typing/spelling. (private blogs won't show up).

Step 6: Add another website (and another and another or hundreds).

Step 7: Read. You can see in the bottom left corner when there is something new.

Easy right?

Now go ahead, get carried away!

Your welcome.

Friday Confessional: Cooking

Confession: I once made spaghetti sauce with taco seasoning. I actually never tasted it, but B told me later how awful it was. I will not admit that I am a bad cook because I don't believe that I am, but I will tell you that I am not so good at cooking meat.

My main problem with cooking is I usually use about 5 million different dishes, pot, pans, spoons, etc. The clean up is horrendous. My theory is that if it tastes good, who cares how many dishes I use?

My little San Francisco kitchen.

A food tip for you:

 Want a fool-proof dish to bring to a party/potluck?
Fresh fruit.
People LOVE fruit. It is healthy, yummy, and looks pretty. You can never go wrong, just make sure you have a colorful variety that is easy to eat (ie: berries instead of apples).

What about you? What is your cooking style? Any good tips? Terrible mishaps?
(No recipes, please!)

St Patricks Day

Hope you are enjoying your day full of rainbows, green leprechauns and pots of gold.

We are busy using a different kind of pot today.

Cheers!

Prove It.

At first glance, you might think this is a photo of a little old lady.

You would be wrong because it is actually me circa 1993.

My sister passed it along to me and I thought it was fitting, maybe too much (what size ARE those pants?).

It is proof of my horrendous stretchy pants.

Taking the Plunge

I have been wishy-washy about potty training. I seriously DREAD it (the thought makes me want to cry), but N seems ready and I am ready to stop buying and changing his diapers. My wise (and funny) friend, Tracy, told me to just "jump in with both feet".

So here we go.
1,2,3...
JUMP!

Get ready for some seriously cute pictures of N in his undies.

Friday Confessional: Jeans

When I was a child, I never wore jeans. I hated them with pure passion. Stretchy pants were my go-to wardrobe. In about 6th grade I started to notice that I was the only one wearing stretchy pants so I gave in to the jean craze. That is not my confession, but I thought I would give a little history.

Confession: I currently have 22 pairs of jeans. That is not counting the 3-4 I just gave away to my sister (your welcome).

In my defense, I NEVER pay full price and only half of these fit me right now (dang pregnancy weight).

The pants that I wear most often?

Old Navy Maternity lounge wear.
It turns out, I never really got over that "stretchy pant" stage.

My next favorite thing to shop for?

Shoes!

What's yours?

Oldie But Goodie

I was just scrolling through my pictures and came across this:

It is still one of my very favorites.

I love being a mom.

Spring Clean Giveaway

Do you ever visit a blog and see that they are having a giveaway? Your blood starts pumping, you get excited and think, "I would love to have that for free!". Then you scroll down and there is a list of 30 bazillion different things you have to do to be entered? That immediately turns me away because there is no way I am going to blog, Facebook, tweet, and email about one simple thing that I most likely will never win. I'm sure it is a great way to market websites, but I suppose I am the wrong type of crowd.

Have you ever gone through your stuff and thought, "This is an awesome product, but I will never use it," or "I have way too many of these," ? You can't imagine throwing it away so it sits on the shelf in your closet waiting for that one special baby shower, bridal shower, birthday, etc.

Today is your lucky day because I have a lot of those "gifts" and I want to become a minimalist (it will never happen). I am going to be giving those away, right here on this blog. I will randomly be posting my spring cleaning finds which will be up for grabs. They might be new, they might be gently used, but whatever it is, it will be free to you!

The Rules:
  1. Comment.
  2. I will use some random method to choose the winner(s).
  3. If you comment more than once you are disqualified.
Thats it.

Here is what I am giving away today:

I will randomly select 4 winners.

These have never been used.

Bed Head Small talk (this is smaller than norm. it is 4.4 oz)

Please tell me in your comment what your top two choices are. If you are selected, you may or may not get your top choice.

I will announce the winners on Monday.

Happy Commenting.

Motherhood

Today I am grateful for this:

And this:

Oh, why didn't I put a pull-up on him?

I really don't want to do this again.

Will someone else do it for me?

He has to be completely 100%  trained by August.

Any takers?

Siblings

When baby E was 2 weeks old, I took this picture.
I just now looked close enough to notice what was going on.

Poor girl, She is lucky she still has her eyesight.

In Like a Lion, Out Like a Lamb

I woke up this morning to snow.
Big, fat, white, snowflakes (still currently falling).

I also found these pictures on my camera (thanks, thoughtful husband):
Does this still count as "In like a lion," even though it is March 7th?

I was intrigued by what might have inspired my daughter to prance around in the snow barefoot, wearing nothing but a dress.

Then N came downstairs wearing this:

I think there has been a bit of confusion.

I am 99.9% sure these are the culprit:
I found them half-eaten on the pantry floor.

The breakfast of champions?

Apparently only for summer sports.

Back on the Wagon.

Last week I made a Blurb blog book of 2006-2008 and it has inspired me to get back on the blogging wagon. Therefore, I am making this a more public blog (linking on Facebook). For this reason I would very much appreciate it if you please would not link our blog with our last name. If you link it to your blog, please link it with the title or my first name. At least that will give us a little more privacy. I hate the private blog thing (yes, I know I have one), and would like to have one that isn't.  Thank you!

Friday Confessional: Cleaning

Confession: When I got married (about 7 years ago), I didn't know how to clean.

If you were lucky enough to grow up with me or live with me in college, you already knew this about me (sorry roomies).

I still remember the day when B appallingly told me, "You can't clean the floors with toilet cleaner!".  I didn't have a clue. He has actually been quite the teacher (he's a little unorganized himself, but he has cleaning knowledge).  I have made leaps and bounds of progress. I promise, I really have!  I have learned the most from you. You probably thought you were having a simple conversation about chores and all the while I was making mental notes of what is and is not acceptable.  I try really hard to have a presentable home. I am still a work in progress. In fact, just yesterday, B told me I should sweep after I wipe down the counters. I could have saved hours of sweeping time, if I had only known this cardinal rule!

I would love to know what you, my friends, do on a regular basis to clean your home. Things you think everyone should (but maybe don't) know.  I would take a class, but since I don't think such a thing exists, I will take all the help I can get.

I am completely serious, please leave a comment.

Chains

While I'm thinking about the 90's I figured I should link this.

I started singing this to B and he had never heard it!
I fortunately remembered every word (with passion).

This Little Piggy

Went to market,
and the craft store, the fabric store, the thrift store, preschool drop off/pick up, dance drop off/pick up, the dental office, Sonic, house hunting, etc.

She spends a lot of her time like this (how else can I juggle the other two?).

Or in her carseat, which she despises. If any of you have been in the car with my children when they were/are babies, you know exactly what I am talking about. Carseat+ L babies= possible loss of hearing. They truly do go "WAAAAA" all the way home.

I think this little piggy would rather stay home.
Can you blame her?
If I could acceptably spend my days snuggled up, napping, or eating most hours of the day, I would not complain.
Except, I would not have roast beef, I would have none.
I would choose cookies instead.
