Colorful Party

All year I have been planning on making a rainbow cake for I's birthday. She didn't necessarily request it. I just saw a picture of one and loved it, so I convinced her that she would love it too (although I think she was disappointed it wasn't the rainbow decorated one from Costco).
One of my favorite quotes from I this year: (completely out of the blue as she was eating lunch one day) "My name is _ and I was born in San Francisco and I love rainbows."  That was it. She said it a couple times to herself and I thought it was funny. It must have been the many many times we drove down Market street. The visions of rainbow flags stuck in her head.

The point is, she has a colorful personality, she loves rainbows, she had a birthday party, it was rainbow themed, and it was a blast! Here's the proof:

It wouldn't be a 5-year-old party without this game.

"Accidentally" letting balloons fly free.

5 candles (count 'em).

Making colorful wishes.

The queen of the cake!

My masterpiece

(Yes, I know the colors are in the wrong order, don't judge.)

Birthday girl.

Again, it wouldn't be a party without a pinata (and a whole bunch of leftover Halloween candy).

 And streamers

And rainbow colored balloons (that met their maker later during the party).

All things rainbow.

To top it off, a picture with all the colorful girls in front of my favorite bridge.

Can you believe we survived? It was a fun day, I can't wait for next year (now I'm starting to sound like her)!  I'm thinking "Under the Sea"? ooh, or how about "Red Carpet"?
This could be epic.

ps: I apologize that none of these pictures have been photo-shopped. I am too slow at blogging to add editing to the list. You don't mind? True friends like blurry, dark, and overexposed photos right?

Still Here

Lucky you, my computer has been mended and it's cold outside. That means I might possibly give up my 4 month blogging vacation and clue you in on my life once again. At least until next spring, when I am out of hibernation. I will make no promises.  You are excited right? I just need to think of some entertaining material to get me through the next 6 months (That is how long winter lasts, you know). Does Pinterest have a section on blogging ideas? I'm sure they do, they have everything. I will be right back after I check it out.

For now, you can stare at these beauties:

Great

I know people get sick of seeing pictures of my children over and over, but when I spend every day engulfed in motherhood, pictures like these melt my heart.  By engulfed, I mean surrounded by chaos, dirt, crumbs, vomit, poop, pee, screaming, crying, whining, neediness, slobbery wet kisses, adorable laughs, smiles, an overabundance of fun, and the most tender moments you could imagine.

Next time I will spare you the gaggy braggy post and post a picture of the bake sale lady instead or something more amusing for your entertainment.

Not From My Phone

I realized most of the pictures I post on here are from my phone. I am sorry for that. I could sincerely tell you that I have no time to download, edit, and post pictures from my camera. That is the truth, but I know it isn't what you want to hear. So here are some SOOC (straight out of camera).

Oh wait, do I have other children? Yes, yes I do, but they are the ones that are usually looking homeless and less photogenic.

Because I'm a good mom like that.

These were the best I could come up with for N on my camera (he rules the phone pics though).

Most of them involve sister I, who would like to be in any and every picture/video I take.

So there you go.

Now it will be perfectly acceptable for the next three posts to be sent from my phone okay?

Summer Love

And by that title, I mean my love for summer. I love this time of year with all my heart. Love this baby too! Thank you sun gods for making it 90 degrees this week.

Good Intentions Amount To Nothing

I just looked at my computer and realized I haven't uploaded pictures since April. I had good intentions of doing that tonight (miracle), but of course I can't find my camera cable. Such is my life. Here are some goodies from April. I know it looks like St Patrick's day with all the green, but believe me, it was Easter.

Everyone is currently 2 months older and wiser. E has learned to stand on her own (not really),  I has mastered the cello (what's a cello?)  and N can tie his shoes (nope, but he can sometimes keep them on).

I wanted one with me and all the kiddos. It sounds so easy.
This is one of the best of the bunch.

You'll have to settle for just the girls.

We are plugging along, planting gardens, making a home, raising kids (trying), spending every sunny moment outside, and spending less and less time on the computer. Forgive me for the lack of posts. I will make no promises, but hopefully soon I can find that cable (which of this boxes ate it?) and share our lives with you again.

Thieves

LAZBOY stole my chair idea! Looks like the exact same fabric. I guess that's what I get for having a public blog.

Owners

Today's the day we get our keys. Now I should probably get serious about packing. I've been finding every excuse to avoid it.

Like planning a party for this guy:
I mean the tall, handsome one. It's his birthday today.

Happy Birthday B
We love, love, love, love you!

Friday Confessional: Check Please

CONFESSION: I'm one of those moms who takes her rowdy kids to restaurants.

In my defense, it is usually not my idea. Our most recent endeavor included.

Taking three children under 5 out to dinner always seems better in theory. Every time we do it, we regret it. Last week was no exception, except it was exceptionally memorable (like how I used except 3 times?). We met B's parents at a new Asian grill. The atmosphere was beautiful and modern. The food was not impressive (please, someone bring me Nan King Road). Of course we had some lovely kid moments with baby E crying, while the other two shot their edamame all over the floor. Not to mention, eating rice with their hands, poking chicken with chop sticks, running around the restaurant and trying to escape out the front door.

The highlight of the night was dessert.

When the server came to the table to ask what we would like, N promptly threw up all over the table. Our server immediately ran away, heaving, as we all scrambled to clean up.
N looked up with sad eyes and said, "Was that pretty funny?" in the sweetest little voice. Yep, pretty funny.
When the server did eventually return from oblivion, he gave us our check and got us out the door in record time.

I think we will leave kids home next time.

Or go to Chuck E Cheese, where kids probably throw up all the time, or worse.

Sleepy Heads

This never happens, ever! BOTH at the same time. I don't know what to do with myself. All that Easter egg hunting wore them out.
